I was out walking my dog one morning and came across this Ash tree that had been felled due to the Ash Die Back Disease. I could see the amazing ripple figure on the cut faces so I contacted the owner of the field and we came to an agreement that he would get a set of bowls and I could have all the usable wood from the tree.

Olive Ash isn’t a separate species of Ash, it’s a term used to describe the colours of dark brown to almost black heartwood usually found in larger trees which looks like Olive wood. This piece shows the distinctive separation between the colourful heart and the paler sapwood.
